Open Letter To Timid And Shuddering Publishers And Agents

October 2, 2013

(Past so many rejected submissions, publishers and writing agents are becoming familiar dead ends. Rather than beg each once more again, how about anyone accept my Open Submission letter? I’ve got stories to publish professionally and make known to wide audiences.)

ATTN Mr. or Ms. Cephas (whichever sex holds those keys),

You’re no friend of mine. If I could get away with it – if there were no legal ramifications, no Good Samaritan-Socialist-Christian laws – I’d sooner watch you drown in muck than save your life.

If I could get away with it.

Understand, I would never put you there, there in some sour pool of fecal stew. Curiosity aside, you are safe from me. All the same, I am compulsive and I must threaten and brag. Already frustrated, if by chance, by some insane coincidence, I come across you dying some unimaginable, horrible way, I’d find myself hard-pressed to rescue your selfish hide. I’d keep walking, dragging along whatever rotting parts still attached to me. And with nothing else, I’ll have gained a grin.

But, oh,

Truth known,

I don’t truly know who you are. I don’t know your face. I may have seen your outdated photo on the About page there on the publisher’s website, but I rarely remember people. And when I do think persons look familiar, I practically never connect a monicker to a visage. The world around me is always filled with strangers. And that is no obstacle because I have dreams for most each. I’d like everyone to read my books. Failing that, mythology claims there’s a place for Philistines and the illiterate to go.

Saying so, I do understand any hesitation to publish my stories. The same time I want to sell books, I seemingly compel readers toward finality then Hell. I make an exclusive distinction between trolls and fans. Vindictiveness is bled over everything.

So it is. I do write horror stories, these are them. I write about monsters and insanity. And their stories are surreal. These are the beasties who I want fed. And if they don’t eat someone else, they’ll only continue consuming me. I know you can appreciate my urgency.
